Survivors & Caregivers At Relay
Survivors and caregivers are our honored guests at Relay. We try to make
sure every cancer survivor knows they are why we Relay. They are our hope
and inspiration. They show that we are winning the fight against cancer,
and that we will someday soon eliminate cancer as a major health problem.
At Relay, our honored guests:
- Can put on a non-latex glove, dip their hand in paint, and help us make this
year's survivor banner, which is a great tradition we're proud to continue!
It's a sign of the progress we're making each and every year!
- Meet and greet fellow survivors, share your stories, and receive special honor
and recognition.
- Kick off our Relay each year! After a brief opening ceremony, as everyone
else lines the entire inside of the track and cheers them on, our survivors and
caregivers officially start the Relay by walking the first lap. After
that, everyone else joins in, and the Relay For Life is underway!
- Be first in line at the food tent for dinner Friday night!
- And much more!
We believe that it's important for as many survivors and caregivers as possible
to experience the Relay For Life, whether they're on a team or not. If you
or someone you know is a cancer survivor and is not a part of a team but would
still like to be a part of the Relay For Life, please
register with our event as a cancer survivor and come see what Relay's all
about! We hope you're able to stay long enough to experience the luminaria
ceremony Friday night, which begins around 9:00pm. It's one of the most
emotional and powerful parts of any Relay and something you won't want to miss.
We look forward to seeing you there!
